They fly pretty low when they are doing the training flights up there, less than 500' at times. It will scare the hell out of you when you come out of a hedgerow and there is a jet!

I was out in New Mexico desert years ago near White Sands. Nice and quiet and peaceful when a Fighter Jet ran almost over my head about 200 feet off the ground ... then I watched it turn straight up into the air like a 90 degree turn. Good thing I had extra garments with me.

Channel 7 TV news in Watertown had a little more coverage about the windmills yesterday.
They mentioned that when it comes to more base closures, Fort Drum, because of the windmills affect on radar, it lessens Drum's overall
capabilities etc. There was worry about the affect on Drum when new BRAC lists come out.

Stefanik letter pretty much summed it up with out mentioning BRAC (Base Realignment and Closure).

    Other coverage.

    > Last week, north country Assemblywoman Addie Jenne took a stand against wind power projects around Fort Drum.
The Democrat said she plans to introduce legislation that would prevent wind turbine installations around the post from receiving state subsidies.

Fort Drum does not want windmills.
    Money talks.
Fort Drum = $$$$ to local and state economy.

More evidence that the snowmobile club has no control over the permit process and is just being held hostage in this situation.

Default Maine Clubs having the same issue

Well looks like things aren't all fine and rosey in Maine like everyone always alludes to on here: http://www.hardcoresledder.com/forum...thel-area.html

Clubs in Western Maine are going through the exact same thing as Redfield is.
