It's a glimmer of hope for snowmobiling in Redfield this winter.

There's a chance that about 20 miles of trails in the town of Redfield that were set to be closed to the public this year will remain open.

It centers around a fight between the owner of the land, Woodwise Land Company, and the town.

The issue is over zoning, particularly the size of plots in deeper, wooded areas.

The town supervisor says she's hopeful they can work with the land owner.

"I did meet with them yesterday, and I do believe that there is a solution," Supervisor Tanya Yerdon said. "I know the town is concerned about it and we will work with them and do everything we can to get a solution."

The issue came up as the town began to draft its first-ever zoning law.

I'll believe it when I see it.

I hope the Redfield Snowmobile Association continues to work on Plan B, just in case this deal falls through or if the land owner changes his mind mid-season.

Another route along with the original one wouldn’t be a bad thing

Absolutely. Little John is the only North-South route in that area and it is usually hammered by noon on weekends.

    More trails = smoother trails.

You might be putting the cart before the horse. Hopefully there will be at least one trail to ride on for this season. Nothing appears to be finalized yet.

More trails = More trails for people to B---h about. If the new trail was groomed and SRR wasn't you would hear that, if SRR was was groomed and the new trail wasn't you would hear that it's a no win.
No B.S. here, just fact.Ask me.

Maybe, but you thin the sleds out over more trails going north/south it may equal smoother trails. That is if the clubs are able to maintain both. That trail going from Redfield to Salmon River Road gets a lot of traffic!
