Does not make too much sense. We have an activity that contributes over $800 million to the state economy, totally run by volunteers. The state contributes 3 positions in Parks. Then the state does what it can to make the jobs of these volunteers harder every year.

It’s embarrassing how this state treats a cash cow with no intentions of making anything better. But I guess I’m in Minority in your eyes for actually wanting something to work correctly in your eyes?

I hate these kind of announcements, makes it sound like the state is providing money to promote snowmobiling and tourism. All the money is from snowmobilers, not from all taxpayers like is normally the case when the state spends money on ski areas and the like. To me it would make a lot of people ask why is the state spending my money on snowmobiles, I don't even like those things..... Yes it says in the body that the money is from snowmobile registrations but many only read the headline...

State Parks has appointed Nicole Unser as the new director of the snowmobile
program. Unfortunately she will not be able to be with us on February 3,
2018.

"Nicole Unser has been a NYS employee for over 25 years. Most recently she
served as the Office Services Manager at the Justice Center for the
Protection of People with Special Needs in Schenectady, NY. Her
responsibilities included oversight of all building related issues, employee
safety procedures, development of agency purchasing guidelines and
processes, development of a building budget and supervision of clerical and
support staff. She has also worked in a variety of Information Technology
positions at both DOCCS and OPWDD.



Nicole was born and raised in the Capital District and is the youngest of 5
girls who were taught to appreciate the outdoors and activities each of the
4 seasons offer. At a young age, her father introduced her to snowmobiling
and when she was 20, she purchased her first snowmobile, a 1988 Yamaha
Enticer. She met her husband, Joe, during a snowmobile outing in 1992, and
together they continued to enjoy the sport until deciding to take a break in
2010 to focus on raising their 2 young boys. Nicole and her husband were
previously members of the Milford Sno-Trekkers and later the Minerva Snow
Travelers."



Hopefully this will be the beginning of a good relationship between Parks,
the Clubs and the Association.
