Default 3/26 Swancott Mills, Highmarket, Whetstone Gulf gorge - Last ride?

Got a late start Monday with Pompey1. We dropped at Swancott Mills around 1:30. Camp 4 was choppy and had plenty of burned off spots. Way worse just south & just north of camp 2 intersection. Some parts were 50 mph, some 15 mph.

Michigan Mills was flat. turned onto N-S Rd and after 200-yards, we turned around. Plowed section of Michigan Mills Rd is as bare as it gets. McGoldrick Truck Trail was very flat, Maybe groomed last nite.

Number 9 Rd was very whooped. Nothing but whoops. Ugg. Turned to Houseville Gulf Rd from Tabolts Corners. Stopped at the Whetstone Gulf gorge. Houseville back to Graves, Toole, French and turned around at Carey Rd.

Those trails were very flat with mealy snow. At Tabolts Corners we rolled the dice and did the RR bed. Very whooped. We slid off across the marsh whenever possible to avoid as much whoops as possible.
N-S Rd was a mess, burned off spots & whoops graduating to small rollers.

We did 70-miles total. 35 not bad, 35-brutal.

If the clubs groom N-S, RR bed or Number 9 Rd overnight, it would make for nice riding as the season winds down. If not, then drop higher up on the hill, Maybe Whskey Jacks? (which by the way, had a small fire and is closed until cleaned up)

Bare & dry off load on Swancott Mills Rd.

That old Piston Bully has seen a lot of work over the years I believe it's a 1986 if I remember correctly. Amazing that TRR is still running it.

Honestly, with no disrespect to anyone, my first thought was maybe Highmarket had it out as a historical, static display.

I'm officially done for season. Just came back from car wash and cleaning out the trailer & hosing off the sleds. Once everything is dry, off to their summer sleep.

Turin had a issue with the groomer Saturday night and Sunday morning it was towed to highmarket with they're other pisten bully that's just like it.

Another little story the club im a member of in northern cayuga county Poor Folks Club has the exact groomer but it's a 1989 with somewhere between 13,000-14,000hrs on the old girl. The club purchased it in 2009 from a ski resort called Plattekill Mtn down in the Catskills. The old girl keeps on chugging. A month ago the club purchased a 2004 Bombardier Br160 from the Webster Ridge Runners. We will be keeping the pisten bully.

Iv'e spent many hours working on that particular groomer years ago when the club was Flat Track Riders. Not dissing the Piston Bully's at all. With regular maintenance I believe they are one of the best groomers for use in big snow areas. I'm sure that's why so many of the older PB's are still getting it done ! Tomorrow is my Birthday and am going to try to ride one last time on top of the hill. Hope the rain holds off so I can get a couple of miles in before lunch.

Itís probably due to the German engineering.

14,000 hours is not a lot for a well kept piece of equipment. Sure things get rebuilt and replaced.
