    Default Super Raffle Tickets

Here's a new one we never heard before our local Bar and grill was selling Super Raffle Tickets for our club and then they had a surprise visit from the Liquor authority and they were told they can't be selling Raffle tickets in the bar. The authority took down the flyer and took all the tickets and wrote the bar up for selling them. The authority never really give them a reason why they couldn't sell them. Has anyone else ran into this problem before?

Donít worry when the Capital Group hears about this they will get all the tickets back sold with interest. Itís what they do and remember we have a seat at the table as well.

Interesting. Let us know what the reason was if one is ever given.

Pretty sure I remember a crackdown on raffles and all gambling at any place that sells alcohol a few years ago. (except of course State lottery and gambling)
This included gun raffles, signup lotteries, 50/50, etc. Even for non profit organizations. Bottom line is if NYS is not making money off of it they will send ABC in to shut it down.

One of our local bars told us they could not sell them as it could-would cause them problems with the authorities, not surprising. It would appear that games of chance, unless approved by the state are illegal.

It seems very similar to how the mafia works. The crime syndicate needs a little taste of the action.
