Sorry I have not posted for a while, but there has not been anything new to post. I would agree with Waterlover, head north!!! Been hearing conditions up that direction are rideable, with enough loose snow to cool and keep hyfax happy. Guess a call to the locals is always a good move before driving 6-8 hours away...we are supposed to get 2-4/3-6/1-2 down here tonight. The sad thing is there is nothing under it. Would have been a great refresher to pull us to the end of the season if we had not lost it all earlier.
We are planning one more quick trip to the UP in March barring a huge meltdown up there. Have some buddies up in the Virgina area as I write this. If I hear from them, will post what they have found for conditions in that area. Was thinking about how many times I actually rode down here this year. 1 full day in Jan. and 4 other times in Dec/Jan doing some ditch running on minimal snow. Tried to ride at night once and had sleds overheating due to lack of loose snow on trail. Very dissapointing to say the least after what was offered last season! The crazy thing is, no matter how little I get to ride the thing, I just can't give it up ............ Catman ![]() |

Picked up just short of 4 inches here in the North Metro. I might run up to Forrest Lake/Lindstrom later today to see if its worth the effort. I'm not sure they got as much and I'm hearing mixed reviews as to what sort of base was left after the melt down. I had planned on hitting the North Shore this weekend but plans fell through at the last minute, what a downer.

Not going to make any promises whatsoever, but there's a chance that we might see some greater amounts of snow Thursday down here in the southern part of the state! NWS is saying 4-8 maybe more, but of course its to soon to tell the "exact" track of the storm system. Who knows, maybe we'll see a whole lot of nothing....or maybe the big stuff. Time will tell. Noticed some people riding ditches/trails over the weekend around the Rochester area. Some of the drifts looked fun, but the dirt/chisel plowed stuff looked horrible. If we get the upper amounts of snow forecasted, I'm sure you will see us out drift/ditch pounding for a while at some point. To bad the snow we got last weekend will all be melted by Wednesday night due to the warm temps we had today and tomorrow. Trying to make one more trip to Michigan if the weather holds.........

Yesterday could go down in weather person history as one of the worst tracked/hyped storms yet. It started out as a cautious forecast, with 1-3 inches expected, then the whole deal was going to hit right here in se mn, then it shifted a little, then the thunder snow started and boy were we going to get a dumping in a short period of time.............snowed hard for 1 hour = 2-3 inches..........then DONE!!! all over....don't know what happened....must have been the "wedge" again. Chalk it up as chapter 10 of a very dissapointing winter down here. I saw people out riding today near Byron. Tempted to go...would consider if it was Nov/Dec. Michigan here we come!!!!!!

Just got back from one last trip up to the U.P.!!! Had a great time. We arrived up there on last Tuesday night just before the cold air hit the back side of the storm they were predicting...again. Too bad the lake wasn't open yet or we would have been measuring the snow in feet......but 3 inches is about what they ended up with Wednesday am. The back woods riding was great....the snow was set up just enough to go about anywhere you wanted without getting easily stuck. We measured about 3-4 ft in most areas we rode in. Saturday was the begining of the end up there, though......50+ and sunny! Actually got a sunburn Saturday pm! When we returned to our cabin, the little trail we did ride was slushy mush with water running down the center. Could not have timed out the last trip of the year any better! Untill next season, which will start with the original "Can't Wait for Snow !!!" once again.....you all have a great spring, summer, and fall. Will probably do 1st post about the weekend of Haydays just to get things rolling for another season!
